Erik Verkerk and Joost van den Bosch, the Dutch directors behind the animated film Dikkie Dik en de Verdwenen Knuffel ("Tummy Tom and the Lost Teddy Bear"), have created a series of four films based on Jet Boeke's beloved children's books about Dikkie Dik . The film, produced by Phanta Animation with BosBros and Eyeworks Film & TV and sold by Incredible Film, will screen at the Annecy International Film Festival. The script was written by Burny Bos, who is considered the godfather of the Dutch family film. The film, which uses hand-drawn 2D animation and features real animal sounds, strives to stay true to the original books. An accompanying book will be released along with the Dutch release on June 19. The second film in the series is also in production.
