Leonardo van Dijl's feature debut "Julie Zzilt", starring newcomer Tessa Van den Broeck as a young tennis promise, has won awards in Cannes. During the awards ceremony of the Semaine de la Critique, Julie is silent was awarded the Prix SACD, awarded by the authors' company of the same name, and the Prix Fondation Gan in support of the cinema release in France.
The story follows Julie, whose life is turned upside down when her coach is suspended and an investigation begins within the tennis club. The screenplay was co-written by Ruth Becquart and Leonardo van Dijl. DOP Nicolas Karakatsanis, mechanic Bert Jacobs and composer Caroline Shaw also worked on the film. Koen De Bouw and Ruth Becquart play important supporting roles.
