“Simon of the Mountain,” directed by Federico Luis in his feature debut, has won the Cannes Critics' Week Grand Prix. The film, an Argentina-Chile-Uruguay production starring Lorenzo “Toto” Ferro, tells the story of Simon, a lonely boy who befriends a group of disabled children. This friendship helps him blossom and discover love, sex, and a sense of belonging. Artistic director Ava Cahen praised the film for its original approach to the coming-of-age theme and the way it tackles the subject of disability.
