After an extensive evaluation, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) has made adjustments to the working methods of the pitch committees for fiction and documentary. These changes, effective May 10, 2024, include a majority of members with sector knowledge on each panel, an improved briefing for panel members, and a restriction of profiles without relevant sector experience. In addition, applicants who receive an incentive premium are offered the choice of bypassing the pitch committee. The VAF is also introducing a new system until the end of 2025 whereby applicants can still submit in the regular system after a negative advice, with certain restrictions. The VAF strives for a balanced panel distribution and a more active role for the chairman during the pitch discussions.
