The Film Fund recently launched Studio Caribe to stimulate the film industry in the Caribbean part of the Netherlands. Twelve film projects are being developed with a budget of €120,000, of which six films will be realized with a budget of €65,000 each. This initiative, supported by workshops and training, follows the advice of the Council for Culture to tackle the disadvantaged position of the region. Studio Caribe, which accepts applications in Dutch, English or Papiamentu, aims to provide local filmmakers with more opportunities and improve the film infrastructure. The first films are expected around 2025-2026.
