The documentary You Can't Milk Birds by director Barbara Makkinga has attracted 10,000 visitors. The documentary, written by Katja Schoondergang, focuses on dairy farmer Bote de Boer from Tjerkwerd, Súdwest-Fryslân. He is known for his efforts to provide a safe haven for the godwit, a meadow bird that has become rare in Friesland. His farm, rich in old-fashioned meadow grass and marsh ponds, attracts birds in large numbers. However, his sons prefer that the focus be on the cows, as the meadow grass is less suitable for livestock farming. The documentary is a production of Witfilm in co-production with broadcaster Human.
