The NPO has decided not to continue with the series 'The Return', intended as a successor to the successful series 'The Jewish Council'. Screenwriter Roos Ouwehand, who has been working on the screenplay for a year and a half, shared this news in the NPO Radio 1 program Met het Oog op Morgen. The series, which is set after the Second World War and follows ten characters, was considered too complicated by the NPO. Despite the appreciation for the makers, including Ouwehand and director Paula van der Oest, the NPO does not provide any further explanation about the decision.
