The Academy Awards will introduce a new category for Best Casting in 2025, a perfect time for Plot to interview casting director Marina Wijn. Wijn, active since 2002 and involved in more than a hundred films and series, shares her insights about the importance of casting in the creative process. She emphasizes the value of character-driven scenarios and the need for authentic character descriptions, free from stereotypes. Wijn, who also gives training with director David Lammers and is co-author of the novel "Alles is Spel", sees himself as a co-creator in projects and advocates a casting process that looks beyond appearance, focusing on the energy and temperament of actors.
