The Italian government has increased investment requirements for VoD platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. These platforms must now spend 16% of their net annual income in Italy on "European" productions, of which 70% must go to "Italian" productions. This represents an effective investment of 11.2% in independent Italian producers, an increase from the current 10%. The audiovisual sector, which has experienced an abrupt stop in production and a drop in employment, calls for the reopening of dialogue with the government and presents new proposals for recovery on April 5.
