Pianist and composer Laurens van Rooyen has died unexpectedly at the age of 88, his management reports on behalf of the family. Van Rooyen, known for the Winged Friends together with Pieter van Vollenhoven, Louis van Dijk and Pim Jacobs, has also composed music for films such as "Lieve boys" (1980) and "Brandende Liefde" (1983). His work was awarded the Golden Harp in 1983 and in 2014 he was appointed knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
