The Dutch cinema sector has shown a robust recovery in 2023, with an increase in the number of visitors and turnover. Four films, including Barbie, attracted more than a million visitors. Despite these positive developments, there are still doubts about the coming year. The chairman of the Dutch Association of Cinemas and Film Theaters expects that full recovery will take several years. In addition, there has been a decrease in the construction activity of new cinema halls and theaters.
