Tim Mielants, director of 'Wil', has won the Jo Röpcke Award 2023 from Knack Focus. The prize is awarded to Mielants for his war thriller 'Wil', based on the novel of the same name by Jeroen Olyslaegers. The film is set in occupied Antwerp in 1942 and dares to tackle difficult topics such as collaboration and the persecution of Jews. Mielants previously made a name for himself with his debut film 'De Patrick' and has also worked on well-known TV series such as 'Cordon' and 'Peaky Blinders'.
