The Bijlmer in Amsterdam South-east has finally got its own cinema. The Bijlmer cinema opened today and is a welcome addition to the district, which expects significant population growth over the next twenty years. The initiator, Hans Meiboom, sees the current design as a stepping stone to more. Previous attempts to start a film house in the Bijlmer were unsuccessful due to lack of support from the municipality.
