Khattar Shaheen, a Syrian filmmaker, is interviewed by Filmkrant in the run-up to the Student Competition at the Dutch Film Festival. Shaheen talks about his animated film Dreams of Yesterday, which he made without a preconceived plan. He wanted to make the film with charcoal so that he could make and correct mistakes. Shaheen fled Syria in 2015 and rediscovered his creativity and personality at the art academy in the Netherlands.
