Carlo Chatrian, the artistic director of the Berlin Film Festival, will step down after the 2024 edition. This follows the decision of his co-director, Mariƫtte Rissenbeek, not to renew her contract beyond the following year. The German Ministry of Culture and Media has announced that the festival will again have a single festival director from 2025 and that cuts will be made to the festival's budget. As a result, the Berlin Festival will cancel some sections of the program, including the Perspektive Deutsches Kino and Berlinale Series.
