The opening of the 80th Venice Film Festival went differently than planned, without Zendaya being present. Instead, the film "Comandante" by director Edoardo De Angelis was screened, receiving a brief standing ovation. The absence of big stars was strongly felt, but a few more American stars are expected later in the festival, including Adam Driver and Jessica Chastain.
