Lukas Dhont, director of the film Close, is one of the new members of the Academy. The selection of members is based on professional qualifications and priority has been given to representation, inclusion and equality. 40% of new members are women, 34% belong to an underrepresented ethnic/racial community, and 52% come from 50 countries and territories outside the United States.
