Robert De Niro's Tribeca Festival is one of the highlights of New York's cultural calendar. The festival, founded in response to the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, is now in its 22nd edition and focuses on audio stories, games and VR works. De Niro himself was the main attraction at the festival, where he was named an honorary citizen of New York. The festival concluded with De Niro's 1993 directorial debut, A Bronx Tale.
