The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is currently on its eighth strike, battling the pattern of bargaining that has existed since 1952. The biggest studios and platforms make a deal with one guild, and the other two are usually forced to accept the same terms and conditions. The WGA is calling for an end to this divide-and-conquer tactic, saying it won't work this time. The question is whether the strike will end like most previous ones, with the WGA accepting a version of a deal already approved by another guild, or whether it will break with history.
