On Saturday evening, the Eye Film Institute opened a retrospective exhibition by German filmmaker Werner Herzog. The Ecstatic Truth features personal documents, props and film clips from the much-loved but controversial director. Herzog himself was absent due to a fishing accident, but his brother and a delegation from the Deutsche Kinemathek were present. The exhibition is curated by Jaap Guldemond and shows Herzog's philosophy as a filmmaker: finding out the truth about the role of man on earth.
