Limburg has produced two Oscar winners: Marleen Gorris and Mike van Diem. Other film professionals with Limburg roots have also won Golden Calves. The Limburg Film Festival, which takes place in Venlo from 1 to 4 June, shows almost fifty short and long films from Limburg. The festival has seven categories in which the best films compete, including long fiction and long non-fiction.
