Media company Vice Media has filed for bankruptcy protection to facilitate the sale to a group of creditors. The Canadian-American company, which is also active in the Netherlands, has five creditors who are willing to pay about USD 225 million for the company. The request comes as no surprise after a round of layoffs three weeks ago. The difficulties of digital media companies are increasing as advertisers shift their marketing activities to Facebook, Google and TikTok.
