Political uncertainty has arisen about a bill that requires streaming services to spend 4.5 percent of their turnover on documentaries, drama series, documentary series and/or feature films. The debate on this in the House of Representatives has already been postponed three times. Part of the House of Representatives wants more obligations, while another part wants less. It is unclear whether, when and in what way an obligation to invest will arise. The Dutch Audiovisual Producers Alliance (NAPA) fears that political strife and opportunism will crush the law.
