The Dutch youth film Totem has won the Grand Jury Award at the New York International Children's Film Festival. The film, directed by Sander Burger and starring Lies Visschedijk and Emmanuel Ohene Boafo, tells the story of eleven-year-old Ama who goes looking for her father after her mother and little brother are arrested. During her quest, she is joined by a giant porcupine and learns more about her totem animal.
