Mariëtte Rissenbeek, co-head of the Berlinale, will step down after the 2023 edition of the festival due to reaching retirement age. Rissenbeek and artistic director Carlo Chatrian have formed a successful partnership since their appointment in 2018. Rissenbeek plans to devote herself to social and humanitarian work after the festival. She cites the new festival venue at the Verti Music Hall and the Generation section as her greatest achievements at the Berlinale.
