Belgian director Tim Mielants is working with actor Cillian Murphy on the film adaptation of Claire Keegan's novel Small Things Like These. Set during Christmas 1985, the story is about a father who is confronted with shocking truths about his own life as he unravels the secrets of a town monastery. The film is produced by Big Thing Films and co-financed by Artists Equity, the production house of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Mielants and Murphy previously worked together on Peaky Blinders.
