Composer Fons Merkies is currently working on the production of the musical film 'Net als in de film', starring Noortje Herlaar. The film is based on old hits from the eighties and is a so-called 'jukebox musical'. Merkies, who has composed successful musicals before, notices that producing music for a film musical is different than for the theatre. He had many conversations with the directors about the atmosphere of the film and the role music would play in the story.
