The proposed reporting obligation for film, radio and television recordings on Texel has been canceled. The Dutch Association of Journalists had pointed out that the obligation to report would curtail the free gathering of news. Mayor Michiel Uitdehaag indicated that he must have the option to take enforcement action if TV recordings become a disruption to public order. In 2020, the shooting of the TV program 'Hunted' got out of hand with two attack helicopters flying around the island for an entire morning.
