Kijkwijzer's recent revision of the age recommendation for Pietje Bell drew a lot of criticism, but not everyone thinks this is justified. The real problem would lie with the legislation, says one of the inventors of the tool.
Professor Patti Valkenburg states in an interview with NU.nl that Kijkwijzer should only be there to inform people. "Some children are more likely to be frightened or pressured by certain productions than others," she says.
