The US Academy has announced the shortlisted films in several categories of the upcoming Oscars, including International Feature Film. From all of the films submitted (read the full list here), a total of eight coming from European countries have been selected, as well as three more coming from non-European countries, but with European co-production.

Among the first ones, some of the favorites have made the cut, such as Corsage by Austria's Marie Kreutzer, Close by Belgium's Lukas Dhont, Holy Spide by Denmark's Ali Abbasi, Saint Omer by France's Alice Diop, All Quiet on the Western Front by Germany's Edward Berger, The Quiet Girl by Ireland's Colm Bairéad, EO by Poland's Jerzy Skolimowski, and lastly, in a more unexpected move, Boy from Heaven by Sweden's Tarik Saleh. In a very competitive European selection, filled with festival favourites, the main snubs of the category include the submissions from Spain (Carla Simón's Alcarràs) and Ukraine (Maryna Er Gorbach's Klondike)..
