A striking number of comedies rely heavily on one-liners from witty characters, with the occasional comic cut to the sequel scene as visual punctuation. Although films and series with these types of jokes elicit quite a few laughs from the audience, they rarely become memorable. Comedy that stays with the viewer, that still makes you roar with laughter the second, third or tenth time you watch it, has to rely on something completely different: the comic situation.
