Writer and director Camiel Schouwenaar (1970) made the Golden Calf-winning animated film Polska Warrior (2017), the absurdist comedy Lief Konijn (2012) and Blind Date (2019), which was released as a pre-film in cinemas as part of Ultrakort . This summer he made his debut as a feature film director with Strijder, about a young football talent who ends up in a wheelchair due to a car accident. He wrote the script together with Job Tichelman, who loosely based the story on his own life story. “I consider myself more of an all-round filmmaker than a screenwriter.”
