The 36th Cinekid Festival opens on Wednesday, October 12 with the world premiere of the Dutch film Totem by director Sander Burger.
Totem is about eleven-year-old Ama (Amani-Jean Philippe), daughter of failed asylum seekers. The film will be shown at the main location of the festival in North Amsterdam and is the first youth film by the Golden Calf-winning director. The film is produced by Volya Films and will be released in Dutch cinemas by Periscope Film from October 13.
