German actor Birol Ünel died on Thursday at the age of 59. The actor, known from Gegen die Wand, among others, died of cancer. Ünel made his breakthrough in 2004 with his role as an alcoholic in the acclaimed German film Gegen die Wand. He won the European Film Prize for best actor for this. He also played roles in the films Soul Kitchen and TranSylvania.
