For ten years, the Film Fund has been organizing a competition with partners Pathé and Fonds 21 for the realization of four ultra-short animated films of a maximum of two minutes. At the cradle of this idea were then head of animation Miranda Sloot and Willem Thijssen, director of animation. The Ultrashort films are shown in the summer months as a support program for major cinema films and thus reach a wide audience. Since the start in 2010, more than 8.5 million cinema visitors have seen one or more of the 36 Ultra-short animated films. There was also artistic success.
