In her Principles Letter for cultural policy 2021-2024, Minister Van Engelshoven wants to give priority to the quality of Dutch film. The Film Fund proposed levies to the minister this week to increase income for distributors and producers. According to filmmaker Esmé Lammers, the real problem was not discussed. The market share of Dutch film has been worryingly low over the past three years and filmmakers indicate that they cannot deliver sufficient quality. Reason for Minister Van Engelshoven to prioritize the quality of Dutch film in her Principles Letter for cultural policy 2021-2024, with more room for autonomy and fair remuneration so that audiovisual productions can be created with a strong signature.
