Film1 has informed distributors that the plug will be pulled on the linear distribution of channels on August 1, various sources independently report to Totaal TV. Film1 will continue as an online streaming service from that date. For some time now, more emphasis has been placed on selling the OTT subscription. This subscription can be purchased directly from Film1 and costs €7.95 per month. This is about half cheaper than the Film1 subscription from distributors such as Ziggo, KPN, Canal Digitaal, T-Mobile, Caiway and KPN. Film1 is owned by Sony Entertainment Europe. The increasing online viewing behavior of Dutch people means that Film1 will stop offering linear channels and video on demand services to all Dutch distributors.
