Sakawa by Belgian-Ghanaian director Ben Asamoah has won the Jury Prize for Best National Documentary at Docville. Sakawa was produced by Peter Krüger for Inti Films, in co-production with the Dutch Pieter van Huystee Film. In addition to the main prize for Sakawa, the Docville jury also gave an honorable mention to Inclusief by Ellen Vermeulen, which, like Sakawa, was produced by Peter Krüger for Inti Films. The jury described Sakawa as “a film that combines a modern visual style with an intriguing story that will appeal to a wide audience.” Including Ellen Vermeulen received an honorable mention. Ben Asamoah wrote the screenplay for Sawaka in collaboration with Carl Plaisier. Jonathan Wannyn did the photography, Tom Denoyette and Simon Schuurman took care of the editing. The music is by Feras Daouk and Laurens Desmet. The film is sold internationally by the German Rise and Shine World Sales.
