No experience, no budget, no objections. The short film De Blauwe Maagd was made purely on the entrepreneurial strength of director, screenwriter and producers. And they also managed to get top actor Pierre Bokma for the leading role. The original plan was simple and modest. “Director Tim Klok and I had a substantive connection and we wanted to make films together, starting with something small,” says screenwriter Joeri Pruys. “Ten minutes, one location, a limited number of characters. But that quickly got out of hand. The ambitions kept getting higher and bigger. So we needed more money. But during a tour of the funds, it quickly became apparent that our plan did not fit their criteria.”
