When the Fotterdam Film Fund disappeared, it became difficult for filmmakers in the city. That fund no longer exists since 2012. But there is a cautious revival. Rotterdam filmmaker Shariff Nasr mentions initiatives such as Rotterdams Open Doek, Offscreen and 48 Hours Rotterdam, where young makers are given opportunities. The amount of subsidies that the municipality provides to filmmakers (440,000 euros annually) has not decreased.
