For the 2019 and 2020 editions of the European Film Awards, the European Film Academy welcomes new film festivals as participants in selecting candidates for the Short Film Awards category. An independent jury from the 15 film festivals that have been partners of EFA for years nominates one short film from the competition as a candidate for the European Film Awards in the Short Film category.
