The spectacular campaign at the Cannes Film Festival did Girl no harm, because the film by Lukas Dhont with Victor Polster in the leading role achieved a historical record. Girl achieves the biggest opening of all time in France for a Flemish film. With 587,892 euros in its first week, the film is doing more than twice as well as the first follow-up Broken Circle Breakdown, which opened in 2013 with 231,592 euros.
