The film Soof 2 was the most visited Dutch film in 2016 and 2017 and attracted around 900,000 cinema visitors. With a proceeds of almost eight million euros, it was also a great commercial success for many parties. Not so for screenwriter Marjolein Beumer and director Esmé Lammers. They went to the Copyright Contract Law Disputes Committee and demanded higher compensation. And more importantly: they received recognition that makers do not communicate honestly. Is this arbitration procedure also a good option for other makers?
