American and Canadian television companies and the BBC are interested in the film 'Wad'. The film about the Wadden area cost about one and a half million euros. Producer Ruben Smit raised that money all by himself. Smit's first film, 'De Nieuwe Wildernis', about the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve, attracted around 800,000 visitors to the cinema and was a great success. But according to the filmmaker, he has not made a cent from it so far, for all kinds of annoying reasons. He hopes that this will be different with his new film.
