At the Venice Film Festival, the Golden Lion for best film went to the Netflix production Roma by Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón. It is the first time that the streaming service has won an important award. The American company thus confirms its name as a maker of cult films. Cuarón previously earned Oscars for the science fiction film Gravity with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
