The Flemish director Ivo van Hove is on a list of 'leading thinkers' of our current world. The American magazine Foreign Policy (FP) annually makes an 'Leading Global Thinkers list' and mentions the leader of Toneelgroep Amsterdam on it. The list includes a variety of people from around the world, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The magazine is very pleased with the way in which Van Hove highlights xenophobia, homophobia, suspicion and social hysteria with his performances. Van Hove has been director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 2001.
