The Royal Belgian Film Archive will soon organize a meeting with the filmmaker on the occasion of Lydia Chagoll's 85th birthday, followed by a screening of the film Frans Buyens-Lydia Chagoll. A film cycle will also run until the end of August that illustrates the rich cinematic oeuvre of Chagoll and her husband Frans Buyens. Chagoll and Buyens would remain a couple until his death in 2004: they worked intensively together on an extensive cinematographic oeuvre that consists partly of fiction, partly of documentary, but was always imbued with the fight against injustice and empathy for those who are oppressed.
