The Belgian Competition Authority has serious doubts about the takeover of the Belgian Utopolis cinemas by Kinepolis. The file is entering a second phase of investigation. Kinepolis took over sector colleague Utopolis this summer. It is CEO Eddy Duquenne's largest acquisition since he took over the helm of the listed cinema group in 2010. He would have paid 50 to 60 million euros for the takeover.
