The 'plasmodial slime mold' is the black sheep of biology. Although there are thousands of different types of slime molds, we know very little about this peculiar organism. We now know that slime molds are able to survive for a long time in a hostile environment, quietly waiting for the moment when they can flourish again, but little is known about their function. In the British documentary 'The Creeping Garden', broadcast on the occasion of the new science film festival InScience in Nijmegen, the slime mold is finally in the spotlight. I
