The Democratic Republic of Congo has lifted the controversial ban on the documentary L'homme qui répare les femmes, dedicated to the Congolese gynecologist and Sakharov Prize winner Denis Mukwege. The documentary is the work of Belgian filmmaker Thierry Michel and journalist Colette Braeckman. She deals with the rape problem of women in Eastern Congo. The documentary was released in Europe this spring, and from September it would also be shown in Congo itself. But the government banned this because the film would bring the Congolese army into disrepute.
